To engage with any extraterrestrial intelligence potentially present there, NASA initiated the Lighthouse Project, deploying a deep space communication array in Hawaii for sending high-powered signals as an initial contact attempt. A few years later, alien spacecraft arrived unexpectedly. The Pacific Fleet based in Hawaii was tasked with making first contact. Lieutenant Alex (played by Taylor Kitsch) of a missile destroyer along with two other warships served as reconnaissance units but were ambushed during their approach, sustaining heavy losses. Due to the shielding capabilities employed by the aliens' ships, no additional support could be provided from the rest of the allied fleet; they had to fend off the attack on their own. In the end, all three modern vessels were destroyed. With no suitable combat vessel available, yet needing to neutralize enemy communications centers, the Missouri battleship, which has been converted into a museum ship, was recommissioned for this final assault against the technologically advanced alien craft. Could a World War II-era battlewagon triumph over cutting-edge alien technology?
